Prince Charles to meet Gurkhas in Kent today

The Prince of Wales is coming to Kent today, meeting families and soldiers serving with the Gurkha regiment.

HRH Prince Charles will visit Sir John Moore barracks in Shorncliffe.

As part of his role as Prince of Wales, Prince Charles is Colonel in Chief of the regiment and Shorncliffe is the headquarters of the 2nd Battalion, The Royal Gurkha Rifles.

He will be meeting the rear party of 2RGR and family members of those serving in Afghanistan.

Around 650 members of 2 RGR are serving in Afghanistan, while a further 160 make up the rear party.

The rear party provides vital support to those on operations as well as looking after the welfare of the families they have left behind.
