NOSWORTHY: Came through Gillingham's youth system

SUNDERLAND have captured Gillingham's out-of-contract defender Nyron Nosworthy.

The 24-year-old right-back moves to the Stadium of Light on a free transfer, after rejecting the chance to remain at Priestfield.

Nosworthy has signed a two-year deal with The Black Cats, but admits being a Premiership player will take some getting used to.

He said: "I’m quite calm at the moment. It hasn’t sunk in that I’m a Premier League player.

"When I’m introduced to the rest of the lads next month it will be different, but I’m looking forward to it."

The 24-year-old progressed through Gills’ youth-system, before making 199 appearances for the club and notching up six goals in the process.
