Power cut misery

HUNDREDS of Coney Hall residents were left without electricity during a 13-hour power cut overnight.

Problems with underground cabling meant that houses in and around Church Drive were left without power from 11.30pm on Sunday.

Engineers from electricity supplier EDF finally fixed the problem at 12.18pm this afternoon.

Mrs Etheridege who lives on the affected Queensway has been without electricity three times already this year

She said: “It is so frustrating. My freezer started to defrost and it is so dangerous for the elderly to just get plunged into darkness. We have got candles and torches but we shouldn’t have to use them nowadays.”

A spokesman for EDF said: “We appreciate how difficult it can be to be without electricity at any time, especially when the weather is cold, and apologise for the inconvenience caused by this incident.”
