Postmaster beaten by raiders scared into retirement

A SUB-POST master pistol-whipped by an armed raider last year has shut up shop over fears he will become a repeat victim.

Terry Price retired from Wrotham Post Office, High Street, on Friday--a day after a thief struck at the neighbouring Wrotham Stores.

Mr Price suffered cuts and bruises in last summer's armed robbery when hundreds of pounds was taken from the till.

Post Office Ltd, Wrotham parish councillors and Kent Rural Community Council are trying to find a new sub-post master for the village. The nearest sub-post office is in Borough Green.

Wrotham Parish Council chairman, Cllr Michael White, said: "Terry has had enough."

In Thursday's theft at Wrotham Village Store, a man snatched a scratch card holder from the counter and drove away in a white Vauxhall Belmont.
