KENT Police have identified the two men who died in separate accidents at the weekend on the notorious A228 road in Medway.

Anthony Bourne, 18, from Hoo, near Strood, was killed on Saturday morning when his car and a heavy goods vehicle were involved in the crash on the Ratcliffe Highway near the Windmill public house at Hoo.

On Sunday 35-year-old Andrew Church, from the Isle of Grain, died when his car overturned into a ditch.

Mr Church’s blue Ford Sierra was found by a passer-by shortly after 8pm between the Stoke Crossing and the rail crossing at the BP terminal on the Isle of Grain.

That crash brought to 33 the number of people killed on the A228 during the past 20 years.

Kent police are appealing for witnesses to the crashes to telephone them on 01622 600970.
