Police name motorcyclist in death crash

KENT Police have identified a motorcyclist who was fatally injured in a crash on the A229 at Hawkhurst on Tuesday.

He was 36-year-old Stephen Smith, of De Chardin Drive, Hastings. An inquest into his death has been opened and adjourned.

Mr Smith was riding a Honda Fireblade motorcycle when he was in collision with a Mercedes light goods vehicle. He was taken to hospital in Hastings where he died.

The tragedy happened near the junction with Slip Mill Lane at about 7.35am on Tuesday.
