AN INQUEST has opened into the deaths of a father and son who died in a crash on one of Kent's most notorious roads earlier this month.

Steven Colin Pethig, 27, and his six-year-old son Billy Andrew Pethig, died after their car was struck by a red Rover as they awaited help after breaking down on the A228 at Stoke, near Rochester.

Mr Pethig died at the scene in Malmaynes Hall Road, Stoke, and his son died later in hospital. The incident happened on Saturday, December 10.

The pair are believed to live on the Isle of Grain, near Strood. The inquest was adjourned on Friday.
