Police in Rochester arrest suspected sex attacker

A 33-year-old man has been charged on suspicion of carrying out a string of sex attacks.

Philip Cook, of Maidstone Road, Rochester, was accused of three sexual assaults and a common assault.

It follows an investigation into a series of reported offences in the town between September 27 and December 4.

The first was in New Road, Rochester. A 17-year-old girl told police a man on a bus tried to touch her leg.

The following day officers received a report of an incident outside Medway Maritime Hospital in which a man grabbed 20-year-old woman and tried to kiss her.

The third incident happened on October 3 at an address in Hermitage Lane when a man allegedly tried to grab a 28-year-old woman.

And the final attack was reported at an address in Maidstone Road when a 28-year-old man suffered minor injuries.

Cook has been released on bail and is due to appear at Medway Magistrates' Court on April 27.
