Police hunt racist attackers

A GANG of men who racially attacked a father with bats are being hunted by police.

The 39-year-old man required hospital treatment after he was set upon by five or six men along New Road in Welling on Saturday, April 12, at around 6.30pm.

The man was rushing to help three friends, two men and a women, aged between 19 and 20, who were being verbally abused by the gang who were in a passing car.

The attackers then jumped out of their black VW Golf armed with bats and what is thought to be a cosh, before assaulting the father and damaging his car.

The victim was taken to hospital with eye injuries and one of the friends also received a cut to the back of his head.

The men then made off in their Golf towards Upper Wickham Lane.

Bexley police want to speak to anyone who may have seen the incident or thinks they may have information that could assist with their enquiries.
