An 85-year-old man who has not been seen for two days is being searched for by police.

Fred Figgett, of Beagleswood Road, Pembury, was last seen on Tuesday boarding a bus to Hastings.

He was due back in Pembury today for a doctor's appointment but failed to attend.

Mr Figgett is white, stocky, with white hair and a white beard.

He normally wears black lace-up shoes and a flat cap.

Insp Caroline Riddle, leading the investigation, said: "His neighbour had been chatting with Fred at the bus stop and boarded the bus travelling to Hastings with him. He had mentioned he was going to visit the town and we believe he had a small bag with him.

"Fred is an active man and his disappearance is totally out of character."
