Police force watchdogs wanted

Volunteers are wanted to help keep the county's police force in check.

Kent Police Authority sets police budgets and council tax precepts but also holds officers to account.

It has three independent member places available for members of the public. More details will be given at a road show event taking place from 7-9pm at Bridgewood Manor Hotel, Chatham.

Successful candidates can expect to spend at least two days a week in the role in exchange for an allowance and expenses.

Mark Gilmartin, Chief Executive of the KPA said:"This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is interested in policing.

"It’s hugely important that we have local people on the Authority reflecting community views. This role requires someone who is willing to challenge just how things are done."
