A crash involving a police car closed a Chatham road for more than three hours today.

A white Skoda hit the car, which was being driven by a male officer, on Best Street at the junction with Clover Street just before noon.

The policeman and the other driver suffered minor cuts to their hands and were treated at the scene by ambulance staff. Neither had to go to hospital.

There was damage to the front of both cars. The road was re-opened just after 3.10pm.

A Kent Police spokesman said the crash was being investigated.
