A woman is said to have been sexually assaulted as she walked through a busy park in the middle of the day.

The 18-year-old girl fought off her attacker and ran away from Mote Park, Maidstone - after seeing him acting suspiciously at around 1.30pm on Wednesday.

The suspect is said to be white, around 50 years old with grey hair, wearing a black baseball cap, a black T-shirt, and carrying a black rucksack.

Detective Constable Paul Gavin from Kent Police said: “The park was no doubt very busy at the time due to the good weather, and we are hopeful that someone may have seen the man and can help us with our investigation.

"We have had a number of officers on patrol throughout the park and will continue our presence in the area.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact DC Gavin on 01622 604265, quoting crime reference YY/13347/12. Alternatively, contact Kent Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
