P&O Ferries scoop travel awards

P&O FERRIES confirmed its position as the country's premier ferry company by making a clean sweep of the trophies at a glittering awards ceremony on London, hosted by television Lily Savage.

The company collected the title of Best Operator on the short-sea for its services from Dover for the fourth successive year. In addition, the company was voted Best Ferry Operator in the All Other Routes category.

The accolades came in the form of coveted Golden Globe awards, through a poll of the nation's travel agents and other industry professionals by the trade journal Travel Weekly.

"To win these awards from travel industry professionals is a tremendous achievement for everyone at P&O Ferries," said managing director Russ Peters.

"Success breeds success and far from resting on our laurels, we're pulling out all the stops to offer even better services in 2003, for example, through the introduction of two new luxurious superferries on our Dover-Calais route in the early summer."
