More staff than originally planned will be able to stay on at the Pfizer site in Sandwich.

It was announced in February that the drugs company would be pulling out of their premises in Thanet with the loss of up to 2,400 jobs.

But a spokesperson for the company has confirmed that 650 workers will now be able to remain at the base in East Kent - which is 300 more than initially planned.

A further 250 workers will also go and work at other Pfizer sites.

The announcement comes after the lastest round of consultations on the move ended on Thursday.

But it wasn't all good news - so far 800 jobs have already been lost from the site and another 700 are now set to go.
