A JURY hearing a trial involving illegal immigrants being smuggled into the country by private plane was discharged on Tuesday.

Taxi driver Indat Oztas, 29, and Jeanette Davies, 40, had denied conspiracy to facilitate illegal entry in July last year.

But a judge decided that the case, which started at Maidstone Crown Court on April 11, should be halted for legal reasons.

Oztas, of Carleton Road, Hornsey, North London, and Davies, of Chalfont Road, Edmonton, North London, will stand trial with pilot Wyatt Anderson on a date which will be decided at a hearing on April 29.

Anderson, 46, of London Road, Camberley, Surrey, also denies the conspiracy charge.

Organiser Mensur Hassan, 32, of Daubney Road, Clapton, North London, Anthony Davies, 41, husband of Jeanette, and Isa Baskaya, 45, of Bemerton Street, Islington, North London, have all pleaded guilty and will be sentenced after the trial.

Customs officers and police swooped after Turkish illegal immigrants arrived at Lamberhurst airstrip on July 2 last year.
