Pensioner badly beaten by club intruders

A 71 year-old man suffered serious injuries when he was attacked by two men at a gliding club in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The elderly man was beaten with a piece of wood when we tried to detain a suspicious man he had seen going into the bar area of a gliding club in Challock, near Ashford, at 12.40am.

The pensioner sustained bad injuries to his body, face, legs and arms.

A second man, who answered the elderly man’s calls for help, also suffered injuries to his face and body when a second offender turned on him.

Both men escaped and ran off, having stolen a small quantity of cash.
