Pedestrian killed in road tragedy

A PEDESTRIAN in his 60s died when he was in collision with a car in Four Oaks Road, Hawkenbury, near Staplehurst.

Police said the victim, who lived locally, was pronounced dead at the scene. He has not yet been named.

The tragedy happened at about 7.30pm on Sunday, November 20, and is believed to have involved a Ford Escort.

Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) is appealing for witnesses. Anyone with information is asked to telephone the SCIU on 01622 600970.

A man was arrested in connection with the incident and has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
