Peach of a place in the Spanish hills

HERE'S some food for thought...how would you like to buy a peach of a Spanish property in a plum location in the middle of a lemon grove?

For family reasons, Kent couple John and Joan Walton are having to leave the Spanish home they built on rolling hillsides overlooking the ‘White Town’ of Alora, about a 40-minute drive from Malaga and the coast.

The couple, who used to live near Staplehurst, moved to Spain in 1999 after spending years looking for the ideal building plot.

They wanted something different from a villa alongside thousands of other Brits and found their location at Alora, a town with a hilltop Arab castle.

Having bought the plot in the middle of a lemon grove, John and Joan hired local builders to create a charming finca (farmhouse) and landscaped the gardens themselves spending lots on exotic plants.

Their home comprises two double bedrooms, one with en suite bathroom plus separate shower room. The sitting room has an open fireplace and the small rustic kitchen leads to a garden room.

The secluded patio all around the house enjoys views across to the hilltop town and castle. The house has air conditioning and a satellite dish.

Grounds extend to one and a half acres with mixed fruit trees. The train service to Malaga has a connection to the airport. It is under an hour by car to the Costa Del Sol beaches in one direction and cooling lakes of a natural park in the other.

Price: £225,000.
