A WOMAN was trapped inside her Vauxhall van after it overturned in Purser Way on the Northern Link Road at Gillingham.

The woman, in her 20s, was freed by two police patrol officers, PCs Stacey Chapman and David Phillips, who witnessed the incident at about 12.30pm on Monday.

The driver was not seriously hurt and was treated at the scene shortly afterwards by the Kent Ambulance Team.

PC Chapman said later: "I would like to pass on my thanks to a man who witnessed the incident, stopped and helped us at the scene.

"We were unable to speak with him before he left. However I would like him to know his efforts were appreciated."

The road was closed while the van was recovered. It was re-opened at around 1.30pm.
