Paceman suffers knee injury blow

KENT pace bowler Amjad Khan has flown home from his first international tour with England A without bowling a ball in anger.

The Danish-born strike-bowler, who only completed his residency qualification for a British passport in December, returned home from Bangladesh on Saturday having suffered a knee injury.

The 26-year-old, who was Kent’s leading wicket-taker in 2006, is trying to see a London-based specialist this week as to whether the injury will require surgery.

Khan said:"I’d been working pretty hard and was raring to go, I felt as fit as I had for a long time, then this happens.

Kent’s coaching co-ordinator Simon Willis said: "What we don’t want is for Amjad to try and bowl through this. Far better that he comes home and gets specialist help."
