Broadstairs snowboarder Ollie Jackson is a champion in his sport.

The 15-year-old student represented Kent in the British championships held in Laax, Switzerland, and soared to first place in his age group which included older and stronger opponents up 18.

He was looking for a strong set of performances following his excellent showing at the recent World Rookie Fest tournament at Klinovec in the Czech republic.

Ollie, who is the only Kent snowboarder in the elite British junior squad this season, gained silver medal positions in the big air and slope style categories and gained impressive marks for racing. It put him tenth overall in all age groups that included senior men and professional snowboarders, and top in his own.

Ollie, a pupil at The Charles Dickens School in Broadstairs, is supported at most of the events by his parents, Dave and Sarah.

Dave said: “He performed very well in the British championships and we are proud of the way he is developing in the sport.”
