A FOOD and wine shop that sold alcohol to underage drinkers has been allowed to keep its licence.

But Heb Food and Wine in Crayford High Street will have it suspended for six weeks so that it can train its staff.

Bexley council’s licensing sub-committee heard from police how the store had failed a test purchase in February.

A licensing officer also expressed concern that some of the staff in the shop did not appear to be aware of their legal obligation when selling alcohol.

As well as staff being retrained, the shop owners will also have to move stronger alcohol to behind the counter.

The licensing sub-committee has granted a licence to Sainsbury’s in Avenue Road to sell alcohol everyday between 7am and 11pm.
