Margate moved into third place in the Ryman League Premier Division with a 2-0 success at Harrow Borough on Saturday.

They led 1-0 at the break through Tommy Whitnell’s volley and Richard Avery wrapped up the points midway through the second half.

Thamesmead are on the fringes of the play-off places in Ryman League Division 1 North after their 2-1 home win over Harlow Town, with both their goals coming in the first half from Ashley Probets and Lea Dawson.

Chatham, trailing 3-0 at half-time at home to Waltham Forest, staged a mini revival in the second half but still ended up losing 4-2. The Chats’ goals came from a penalty by player-manager Kevin Watson, pictured, and Jack Jeffrey.

With Ryman League Division 1 South leaders Maidstone United in FA Trophy action, Hythe Town missed the opportunity to draw level on points with the Stones when then they were held 1-1 at home by Walton & Hersham.

The visitors led 1-0 at the break but half-time substitute Craig Thompson equalised soon after the restart and Hythe were denied a late winner when Walton & Hersham keeper Sheikh Ceesey made a stunning save from Brendan Cass’s injury-time penalty.

Folkestone Invicta’s slide continued as they lost 3-2 at Kent rivals Herne Bay. James Campbell, Rhys Lawson and Dan Bennett scored for Bay, with Invicta replying through Stuart King and Richard Atkins.

Whitstable’s woes at the bottom of the table worsened as they lost by the same score at Three Bridges even though the home side had to play the final 15 minutes with 10 men after Joel O’Hara received his second yellow card. The Oystermen’s goals came from Jimmy Dryden and Damian Abel.

In the FA Trophy, Maidstone pulled off an excellent 3-2 victory over Ryman League Premier Division high-fliers Whitehawk. Trailing 2-1 around the hour mark, the Stones snatched victory with goals from Tom Mills and Ian Draycott after they had led at the break through a Tim Olorunda strike.

Ramsgate were not so fortunate, losing 2-0 at Sutton United and having James Sherman sent off.
