Administrators have confirmed there is no prospect of two Medway car dealerships being saved.

The two companies which have collapsed are Vauxhall dealers Greens of Medway and Fiat dealers Medway Autos, which both traded from a site in London Road, Rainham.

Greens also had a Vauxhall and Saab showroom at Holborough, near Snodland.

Watford-based accountants Baker Tilly were appointed administrators at the end of last month.

A spokesman for the accountants said: "All trading had ceased prior to the appointment of the joint dministrators and, as such, there is no prospect of either business being saved."

Administrator Simon Bower said:"The failure of Greens has been very much linked to the difficult motor trade market conditions and the continuing downturn across the whole of the automotive industry."

The collapse of the dealerships means all 75 employees have been made redundant.

On Friday, February 27, 50 employees turned up at Greens’ Rainham site to demand answers from bosses about their employment status.

They got none, but the next morning, many staff received letters from the administrators, saying their employment was terminated.

Employees, who had not been paid since December, told the Messenger they were angry because they had been left in limbo for weeks.
