New transition scheme for pupils and parents

Proper information and support is now being given to Island pupils and their parents about going to Minster College.

Transition Information and Parental Support (TIPS) has been set up by Margaret Windeatt who is the parent support adviser at the college, Catherine Cartwright who is family liaison officer at Cheyne Middle School, Sheerness, and Guy Morgan who is a social work assistant.

Mrs Windeatt, said: "We have been planning this since November last year to provide an inclusive service to the wider community, particularly parents.

"We have asked local multi-agency partners to support us in attending events at the middle schools to promote community partnership and working in cohesion."

Sessions are also being held next week for primary school pupils and their parents. They are at Eastchurch Primary School from 9.30am-11.30am on Monday (June 23), Warden Bay Community Centre from 12.30pm-2.30pm, Queenborough Primary School from 9.30am-11.30am and to ensure families at the Pupil Referral Unit in Sittingbourne do not miss out, they have been invited to Minster College on July 10 for a tour of the school and to meet staff who will be working closely with them.
