German car maker Volkswagen has announced a new addition to its compact SUV Tiguan range.

The Tiguan Match costs £450 less than the SE variant it replaces, but comes with £700-worth of extra equipment.

On top of the already generous specification of the outgoing SE, the new Tiguan Match adds a colour touchscreen satellite navigation system, new 17-inch ‘New Orleans’ alloys, Bluetooth plus a media interface with cables for iPhone 4 and earlier and USB, while there’s also SD card provision and a DAB digital radio.

A multifunction steering wheel (trimmed in leather, like the gear lever and handbrake) enables remote operation of the unit’s key functions.

The Tiguan Match is available with a choice of diesel and petrol engines and gearboxes, from a two-wheel drive 1.4-litre 160 horsepower petrol model to a four-wheel drive 2.0-litre 177 horsepower model, with CO2 emissions from just 139g/km.

Available to order now, on the road prices start at £23,245.
