A new strategy has been launched for Kent’s Cricket Academy which it is hoped will set the county’s youngsters on a path to excellence.

Joe Denly, Lydia Greenway, Alex Blake, Sam Northeast (pictured), James Goodman and Matthew Coles are among graduates from the academy, as Kent have increasingly had to rely on young talent to cover for injuries and unavailability.

‘Rising to the Next Level’ outlines how the club intend to maximise the performance of the academy over the coming seasons, introducing a range of initiatives in a formal structure.

High performance manager Simon Willis said: "The academy is entering a new and exciting phase and the strategy will help to create a learning environment which enables players with potential to develop their individual skills and techniques to the highest possible standard."

He added: "It is obvious at the moment that Kent is a place where young players will get an opportunity to play."
