New film season opens

Deal's ‘big screen’ nights are back later this month when a new season starts with the blockbuster Mamma Mia.

Interludes Stage & Screen opened last year at St George’s Hall, High Street, after Flicks Cinema closed and the 2009 season begins on Friday, January 23.

Founder Denis Hart said: “We are beginning with the biggest hit of last year, the phenomenally successful Mamma Mia.

“What better way to blow away those winter blues than with an up lifting musical featuring ABBA songs.

“Mamma Mia is the fastest selling DVD ever and even if you have already seen it nothing beats watching this film on the big screen and enjoying those catchy classic tunes at full blast.”

Interludes film club has been screening at least two films a month since September.

Mr Hart added: “The screen, which measures 16 feet wide by 12 feet high means the audience enjoy the ‘big screen’ experience combined with a professional sound system."

This year Sound House opposite Deal Town Hall will be the sole box office and all tickets can be bought in advance from the store. Seating is restricted to 140.

Mr Hart said that an evening at the Interludes Cinema still represented good value at £6, particularly when people are looking for a night-out on a budget.

The full Interludes Stage & Screen programme will be published soon and be available at The Sound House, the Tourist Information Centre at the Landmark Centre and Deal Library, as well as other outlets around town.
