New Ash Green car thief strikes gold

Wads of money
Wads of money

A thief landed himself a big bonus when he stole a car from outside the owner's work place, a court heard.

For inside the Rover 25 was a bag containing more than £18,000 in cash.
Owner Rojana Ngern-Kyo said the money was to buy property and she was planning to pay it into a bank.

Andrew Webb, described by his lawyer as "a cheeky chappie", admitted burglary and aggravated taking away but denied stealing the bag.

The 21-year-old, of Millfield, New Ash Green, was convicted and jailed for three years.

He asked for another burglary in North Frith Park, Hadlow, to be considered.
