Multi-million pounds scheme to rebuilt theatre unveiled

Ambitious plans for a new Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury took a step closer when the multi-million pound project was given planning permission.

The new theatre will include a three-tier, 1,200-seat main auditorium, enhanced public areas, including foyers, restaurants and bars, a riverside walk and city centre piazza for outdoor performances and exhibitions, as well as a second, 150-seat theatre.

The present Marlowe will be demolished, except for the flytower, which will be remodelled.
