SUZY Gale, wife of North Thanet MP Roger Gale, is shaken and bruised but on the mend following a car crash.

Mrs Gale, who is the MP’s constituency office director, was on her way to work in Birchington when the brakes failed on her car.

The incident happened near the family home in the Preston, a village between Sandwich and Canterbury.

The MP said: "The car hit a barrier, bounced across the road, through a hedge and into a field. Thankfully no other vehicles were travelling in the opposite direction or she could have been severely injured."

The Gales’ Newfoundland dog Lulu was travelling in the back of the car. She was unhurt.

Mrs Gale was tended to at the roadside by passers by and then treated at the Queen Mother Hospital, Margate, for injuries to her left arm.

Mr Gale said: "I would like to thank everyone who helped Suzy, the staff at the hospital, and those who have sent her messages of support. She is battered and bruised but on the mend."

The accident happened shortly before 7am on Monday, February 20.
