Motorbike rider fighting for life after crash

A motorcyclist is in a critical condition after a crash yesterday.

The accident happened at 6.40pm on Tuesday involving a Yamaha YZF and a silver BMW 5 series on the New Dover Road at Capel, near Folkestone.

The motorcyclist went on to collide with a stationary car, also a BMW.

The motorcyclist suffered serious injuries and was taken to the William Harvey hospital initially but was soon transferred to a London hospital. On Wednesday morning his condition was described as “critical”.

A Serious Crash Investigation Unit from Kent Police attended the scene and the road was closed until 1.50am on Wednesday morning.

Investigators are keen to speak to the driver of a white transit tipper van who it is believed was at the location at the time of the collision, travelling from Capel towards Dover.

The driver is not thought to have been involved in the collision, but may be an important witness.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the unit’s witness appeal line on 01622 798538.
