A wheelie bin bath with a working shower and a Python Holy Grail cart were just two of the entries in Hernhill's annual bin Grand Prix, organised by the Three Horseshoes pub.

For the past 10 years Mick Skipper has held the race, in which decorated bins battle it out on a course from the pub to the gates of Mount Ephraim and back.

On Saturday a record 15 bins - all broken and supplied by Swale Council - lined up on the grid.

During the race every adult team member has to sink a half at two beer stops. Faversham brewer Shepherd Neame has supplied the beer ever since the event started.

Money from sponsorship, entrance fees and a raffle will be donated to the Pilgrims Hospice and Demelza House children's hospice.
