ELISE LANGHAM: telephoned her sister on the day she went missing

THE sister of missing Kent teenager Elise Langham today appealed to her to return home in time for Chistmas.

Michelle Lakin travelled from her home in Leicester to make the appeal at a press conference organised by Swale police.

She said: “We love you. We miss you and we want you to come home before Christmas.”

Elise was last seen at about mid-day in Halfway, near Sheerness, on Sunday, November 21. She was walking in the direction of Queenborough Corner.

Ch Insp Ian Hall said Elise had gone missing before for short periods but had always got in touch with friends and family. The last time she went missing she was found in North London.

This time, however, no word had been heard from her and checks with friends and family members had drawn a blank.

He added: “I am keen to hear from anyone who may be able to help us find her. She is not in any trouble. We are just concerned for her welfare."

Mrs Lakin revealed that Elise had phoned her on the morning she went missing. She recalled: “It was a normal conversation. She said she was looking forward to seeing me at Christmas and she said she loved me.

“We speak to each other probably three or four times per week. It is quite unusual that she hasn’t contacted me.”

Ch Insp Hall said there was no evidence that Elise had a mobile phone with her. She had very little money with when she went missing.

Closed circuit TV tapes had been trawled in Swale for sightings of Elise without success and officers were working with police in Leicester and London to try to find her.

Elise sometimes uses the names of Elizabeth Taylor and Lauren Taylor or Lizzie and Liz. She is 5ft 7ins tall, has blue eyes and dark brown, straight, shoulder-length hair.

When last seen she was wearing a charcoal-grey knee-length jacket with a fur-lined hood. She had a white blouse, powder-blue zip up cardigan and blue jeans and beige ankle boots. She wears a diamond cluster ring on he middle finger of her left hand.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Swale police on 01795 584198 or ring the National Missing Persons Helpline on 0500 700 700.
