Missing father found dead

A PUB landlord who became worried when he had not seen one of his regulars for two weeks helped police find his body.

The owner of the Four Brothers public house in Gillingham called the police when he became concerned that he had not recently seen Allen Duff, a regular at the pub for more than 20 years.

Police discovered the body of the 59-year-old man in his bathroom after breaking in to his home in Dial Road, Gillingham.

The divorced furniture worker, who was a known alcoholic, had not seen his daughter for more than four years, but police had to call her for a description of her father before identifying him.

Coroner Roger Sykes said: "I cannot be satisfied whether the death was natural or unnatural. Therefore I record an open verdict."
