Chatham missed out on the chance to break into the top three in the Ryman League Division 1 South with a 2-0 defeat against Ramsgate at Maidstone Road on Tuesday night.

The visitors took the lead after 65 minutes when Mitchell Sherwood fired a 25-yard shot into the net.

Ramsgate scored a second goal two minutes later to make sure of the points.

A long ball down the right was crossed into a crowded goal area, and Mark Lovell managed to shoot through the crowd and double his team’s lead.
