Maidstone United's struggles continued as they went down 2-0 at home to Margate in Ryman League Premier Division at Homelands on Monday afternoon.

Shaun Welford opened the scoring on 18 minutes from the spot after Tom Parkinson was adjudged to have handled on the line following a corner.

Both sides spurned chances to score before former Stones striker James Pinnock (pictured during his time with the Stones) converted in stoppage time to seal the points.

In his first appearance since early November there was still time for James Peacock to be dismissed for two yellows - the second year in a row he has been sent-off in the festive home fixture against Gate.

The Stones are now four points from safety with an inferior goal difference while the win took Margate 14th and nine points off the playoffs.

Tonbridge Angels edged a 1-0 win over struggling Folkestone Invicta in their first action for five weeks at Longfield on Monday.

Invicta fielded debutants Sam Gore and Antonio Gonnella but fell behind when Ben Judge converted an eighth-minute corner after keeper Jack Delo had failed to clear the ball, as the hosts made a strong start.

Josh Burchell and Jimmy Dryden hit the post as Folkestone enjoyed a strong second half showing, but the hosts held on to move five points off the Ryman League Premier Division playoffs with a game in hand.

Invicta are three points from safety and although they have an inferior goal difference, they do have a game in hand.

Ramsgate came from behind to snatch a last-gasp 2-1 win over Chatham Town at Southwood on Monday afternoon to move within six points off the playoff places in Ryman League Division 1 South.

The visitors took the lead shortly after the hour mark through Kane Rice but Mark Lovell grabbed an equaliser in the 89th minute and then held his nerve to convert a penalty in the fourth minute of stoppage time.

Defeat means the Chats are just five points from safety while the Rams are up to 13th.

Faversham Town and Whitstable Town played out a rollercoaster 1-1 draw at the Shepherd Neame Stadium in Ryman League Division 1 South on Monday afternoon.

Whitstable struck the woodwork through TJ Moncur while Alex Waugh headed against the post for Faversham as the first half ended goalless.

The opener came from Dane Luchford just before the hour when he collected a crossfield ball from Tom Hickman and fired in a shot which deflected off Gareth Cornhill and past Kevin Fewell.

However 13 minutes from time a spectacular long-range strike against his former club from Ian Pulman earned the point for the Oystermen which made it three games without defeat and moved within two points of safety.

Damian Abel's last-gasp header, which would have won the game, came back off the bar meaning 10th-placed Faversham drew their third in four, though they are unbeaten in nine.
