Folkestone Invicta's battle against the drop in Ryman League Premier Division suffered another blow with a 2-1 home defeat to Canvey Island on Tuesday night.

The visitors took the lead 10 minutes before half-time and four minutes after the break it was 2-0.

James Everitt (pictured) converted a penalty on 55 minutes, his third goal in as many games, to give the home side hope, but they were unable to find an equaliser.

Folkestone are now bottom, effectively eight points from safety with just five games remaining.

Cray Wanderers moved back into the top-10 and within four points of a play-off place with a 1-0 win at Wealdstone on Monday night.

Laurent Hamici's 21st league goal of the campaign was enough to clinch the points.

In Ryman League Division 1 South Sittingbourne moved up to ninth courtesy of a 2-1 win over Fleet at Bourne Park on Tuesday night.

Bourne are now five points behind the play-off places but have played two games more than the sides they are chasing.
