Maidstone missed out on the chance to take over at the top of Ryman League, Division 1 South on Tuesday night.

The Stones went a goal up at Horsham but were pegged back and had to settle for a point following a 1-1 draw.

Shaun Welford (pictured) had given Maidstone the lead on 38 minutes but it was all-square when Ryan Marriott levelled a minute before the break.

Maidstone do still have a game in hand over leaders Dulwich Hamlet and trail them by just a single point.

Sittingbourne climbed up to sixth in the table with a 1-0 win at high-flying Leatherhead - despite playing much of the match with 10 men.

The Brickies played most of the second half a man down, after Nick Treadwell was sent off, but they took the points as Leatherhead captain Mark Simmons scored an own goal on 70 minutes.

Mid-table Ramsgate were overtaken in the table by Worthing, after losing to the West Sussex side 2-1.

On target for the Rams was on-loan Gillingham player Ashley Miller.

Chatham Town claimed back-to-back wins in the North Division, as they followed up a 5-0 win on Saturday by winning 3-0 at Ware.

Lee Hales scored twice and Jack Jeffrey was also on target for Kevin Watson’s team.

In the Ryman League, Premier Division, Cray Wanderers had an evening to forget, as they lost 5-1 to Mark Stimson’s Thurrock team.
