A woman has been charged with fraud after a string of reports of a bogus charity collector.

Michelle Roberts, 43, of Ascot Road, Gravesend, was arrested yesterday after a series of alleged thefts from charity boxes across north Kent.

Reports claimed a woman was falsely claiming to be collecting donations for Demelza in Medway, Dartford and Gravesend.

Roberts has been released on bailed ahead of a hearing at Dartford Magistrates' Court on Monday, June 11.

Among those to report a bogus charity collector was Wendy Head, (pictured left) who runs The Ship Inn, in Green Street Green Road, Dartford.

She claims the woman walked out with more than £100 after claiming to be from Demelza.
