Medway and Maidstone AC take first and second places at Kent Young Athletes League

Medway and Maidstone AC were second to Blackheath and Bromley Harriers in the Kent Young Athletes League girls’ Division 1 match at Canterbury High School on Sunday and the boys were the clear winners of Division 2.

There were top-flight victories for Joanne Ware (1.61m) and Emily Coombs (1.35) in the under-15s high jump in the girls' match.

The A-string winners in the under-13 boys’ match were Jacob Bourne (2min32.6sec) in the 800m and Jarel Clark, Scott Rowatt, Joseph Webb and Bourne (59.5) in the 4x100m.

Winners in the under-15s were George Clements in the 200m (25.0) and discus (28.06); Lewis Heffernan (59.7) in the 400m; Cameron Corbishley at 800m (2.18.1) and 1,200m walk (5.07.0) and Fergus Allen (13.8) in the 80m hurdles.

The 4x100m was won by Clements, Lewis Ryan, Joseph Burton and Allen in 48.8 and the victorious 4x400m quartet were Heffernan, Corbishley, Aiden Phillips-Smith and Thomas Webb (4.26.5).
