Gillingham boss Martin Allen is backing the depth of his squad to keep their League 2 title bid on track.

The leaders play the second of three away games in eight days on Saturday at Morecambe, with Allen enjoying the quality that he has available to select from.

Allen (pictured) said: "They are all committed and that’s why I change it around and give others the opportunity to play.

"They all train hard, they all compete and they all have a go and deserve time to play. That’s what builds team spirit because they respect each other.

"There is a school of thought from some people who say the players should be fit enough (to play Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday, Tuesday) and they should do this and that.

"But when you are down here at the sharp end working with them and seeing them train and play, there is a lot of expectancy and a lot of tension.

"You only have to look around the country to see how tired players are looking."

Allen could be boosted by the return from injury of Myles Weston, who has missed the last three matches with an ankle injury but midfielder Charlie Allen is unlikely to return as he continues to rest a broken hand.
