A POLICE investigation was launched this morning after a man’s body was found on a beach in Kent.

A man who was on the beach at Margate with his metal detector called the emergency services just after 9.20am when he saw the body.

It was found under the archway, opposite the Dreamland site.

An area around the seafront toilets by the Nayland Rock shelter and a slipway to the main sands was cordonned off.

Police are currently treating the death as unexplained.

A police spokeswoman said: "It is too early to say how long the body has been there or how it came to be there."
