Man seriously ill after attack

A man is seriously ill in hospital with head injuries after being assaulted in Ramsgate.

The 33-year-old was attacked in Harbour Parade between 2.50am and 3.10am on Sunday.

It is thought he was struck with a heavy implement.

He is in a London hospital with serious head injuries.

The man has had an operation and is in a stable condition, but it is too early to tell the full extent of his injuries.

Police were called after a fracas started opposite the old casino involving more than 20 people.

It is believed the injured man went to help another man, not known to him, who had been set upon.

That man managed to run off and police would like to speak to him and anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information.
