Man remanded on stabbing murder charge

A 48-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a teacher in a Kent prison car park.

Unemployed Keith Prest, of no fixed address, went before magistrates in Sittingbourne on Saturday accused of killing Louise Evans.

Miss Evans, 48, from Hothfield, near Ashford, was found dead with stab wounds in the grounds of East Sutton Park open prison on September 12.

She worked as a literacy teacher at the prison.

Prest was remanded in custody until Friday, October 12, when he will return to court.
