Man killed in nudist club blast

A MAN is understood to have been killed and a woman has been taken to hospital with severe burns after an explosion and fire at a naturist club in East Kent.

Three fire crews from Dover and Whitfield were called to the Invicta Sun Club, at Sutton, between Dover and Deal, at 11.20pm on Saturday when there was a report of an explosion and fire in one of the chalets.

The woman suffered 50 per cent burns to her body and after receiving treatment from paramedics at the scene, she was taken to the Kent and Canterbury Hospital. It was several hours later that the man's body was found.

Fire crews had difficulty accessing to water to fight the blaze, as the club is in a remote location and it is understood there are no fire hydrants. Water had to be used from the swimming pool.

Witnesses have been questioned at the club during the weekend, and the cause of the fire is being investigated.
