A MAN has appeared in court charged with the murder of a woman and the attempted murder of a child.

Alessandro Selvaggi, 24, of London Lane, Bromley, spoke through an Italian

interpretor to confirm his identity at Thames Magistrates Court in east London.

He stands accused of stabbing to death a 28-year-old woman whose body was

found at a block of flats on Sunday.

The injured child is in a serious condition in hospital.

District Judge Dawson remanded Selvaggi in custody until a hearing at the Old Bailey later this month.
