A 19-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the attempted murder of Kent police officer Guy Miller

Ricky Hales, of Deptford, south east London, spoke only to confirm his name, age, and address at Maidstone Magistrates' Court.

Mr Hales is also charged with aggravated vehicle taking and with causing grevious bodily harm to PC Miller at Kings Hill, near West Malling, on Wednesday, December 10.

The magistrates committed the case to Maidstone Crown Court. No application for bail was made and Mr Hales was remanded in custody until the crown court hearing on Monday, December 22.

PC Miller, 33, remains in a critical but stable condition in intensive care at Maidstone Hospital following the incident at Kings Hill.

Police are still looking for a man in connection with the incident who was captured by CCTV cameras at West Malling and Bromley South railway stations last Wednesday afternoon. He was wearing a red top and dark trousers.
