Man hurt in massive gas blast

A BABY, a child and six adults have been taken to hospital after a huge gas explosion in Canterbury.

A block of four flats in Tenterden Drive, Hales Place Estate was wrecked by the blast just after 7pm.

Eyewitness and neighbour Ricalda Williams said: "There was a rush off hot air and the cupboard doors blew off."

Twenty neighbouring families have been evacuated and moved to an emergency centre at the Kingsmead Leisure Centre.

The road has been cordoned off and emergency services remain on the scene.
